Sometimes a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. My “attempt” of a new painting style for my flags failed. The first painting of Gostelowe Standard #2 was driving me nuts. Here is the repainted flag and now I can sleep at night:
Here is the original flag. I was trying a new technique using Contrast paints and ink. It did not work and did not add the pizzaz I wanted for the command base.
I went back to my tried and true method of just using enamels. Unfortunately (but who cares?), I did not add all of the stars. Oh well. I think it looks great at gaming distance.

Well worth going back and doing again Neil, the tried and tested method certainly "pops" a lot more than the new method.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fine to me Neil - but so did the one you didn't like! I have just been through my own AWI flag controversy, so I know what it's like!
ReplyDeleteThanks! What controversy did you have?
DeleteMuch better! I might be an old fogey but sometimes the old ways are best for some of us.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I agree!
DeleteSometimes the old ways are best, or at least look better for some of us.
ReplyDeleteThat’s for sure.

Deleteoff topic- Your main header picture is of a Napoleonic battle, I'm curious as to what the game system is?
ReplyDeleteIt was Fuentes de Onoro using Volley and Bayonet.
DeleteNice work Neil, your version is so much better looking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray. I think simple works just fine.
DeleteVery nice work, Neil. What's that old saying, "If at first you don't succeed..." 😀
ReplyDeleteThat’s for sure!
