British Naval Brigade

Lady Poppington's expedition comes with four Naval Brigade figures that are easy to paint and I think animated quite well.

A naval brigade is a body of sailors serving in a ground combat role to augment land forces.

 

Within the Royal Navy, a naval brigade is a large temporary detachment of Royal Marines and of seamen from the Royal Navy formed to undertake operations on shore, particularly during the mid- to late-19th century. Seamen were specifically trained in land-based warfare at the gunnery school at HMS Excellent in Portsmouth.

Somali Infantry

Here are the Somali Infantry that come with Lady Poppington's Expedition for Congo.  Unfortunately the pack did not come with any spears so I clipped some extra wire pikes I had and added them.

Ladies of Adventure

Here are the European female figures from the Lady Poppington Expedition pack put together for the game Congo.  Of course they can be used for In Her Majesty's Name, The Men Who Would be Kings or other similar games.  Figures are from Copplestone Castings and Artizan Designs available through Northstar or Brigade Games in the USA.

This is the second time that I have painted Lady Poppington's expedition and it is definitely a change of pace from the usual soldiers I paint.

More Devil in Skirts

It's like I always like to say, you can never have too many Highlanders on the gaming table!  Figures are Artizan Designs from their Northwest Frontier Range are individually mounted on Litko bases.  I did the kilst with GW's Warpstone Glow as the base followed by Vallejo Flat Red stripes finished with GW's Bubonic Brown as the yellow stripes.
