Imperial Russian Field Force for The Men Who Would be Kings and In Her Majesty's Name

"The infantry advance guard of the 2nd Siberian Corps are ready."

I have completed my initial Field Force for the Imperial Russians for the fictional Anglo-Russian War using the ruleset The Men Who Would be Kings and some additional fun with In Her Majesty's Name. The initial force will be 24 points but will grow larger with the addition of at least 2 cavalry units and 2 to 3 more infantry units. Who knows? Maybe an artillery gun will show up too.

a. Regular Infantry: 6 points.
b. Elite (Discipline becomes +2): +1 point
c. Fierce (Fighting becomes 4+): +1 point
d. Total Points: 8

a. Regular Infantry: 6 points.
b. Elite (Discipline becomes +2): +1 point
c. Poor Shots (Firing becomes 6): - 1 point
d. Total: 6 points

3. Naval Company from the Battleship Sissoi Veliky:

a. Irregular Infantry: 4 points.
b. Well Armed (upgrade to modern rifle): + 1 point.
c. Poor Shots (Firing becomes 6): - 1 point
d. Total: 4 points

a. Crewed Weapon, Well drilled: 6 points.
b. Total Points: 6 points.

Initial Imperial Field Force: 24 points.

These characters will show up in skirmish games using In Her Majesty's Name (Hollywood, dastardly deeds and maybe some secret weapons!) and add extra flavor to the regular games.

    1. Thanks Dean. That's one of the great things about being the "Tsar" on this project is getting to choose which units I use for the fictional war. Thanks again.

    1. Jon,
Thanks. Sometimes I ignore little things like that on caps; but, this time I think it was well worth taking the extra steps. Sometimes the little things can really bring out a unit especially as you get in to more "modern" times.

    1. Phil,
Thanks. When I started researching for the project, and read about the uniforms, I knew they would have to be on the tabletop. They probably wouldn't wear the red caps in the field for real, but who knows? I like 'em.

  4. This is a great little collection Neil. I particularly like the "extras" in the final pic. Looking forward to the out break if hostilities very soon!

    1. I have one more British Indian Army unit to paint and an Indian Maxim MG. Expect some skirmishes to break out first; some involving bandits and hopefully (once I get the figures) the royal guard of a local princess.

    1. A J,
Thanks. For once I did not say to myself, "eh, good enough." They may not be museum quality but I am pleased with the way they turned out. I'm planning on adding at least 2 more regular infantry unit, some Cossacks, a dragoon unit and probably some artillery.

  6. A nice little expeditionary force, Neil! Very pretty! Such a martial colour is white, especially on those officers. I almost wish I'd seen this before creating my own little army of Izumrud-Zeleniya!
    Cheers,

    1. Ion,
Speaking of pretty, wait till you see the Royal Guard of the Princess whose succession is being disputing which could be the spark that starts the war.

    1. It surely is and has given me the motivation to get the figures knocked out. Now where is that British unit that needs to be painted?

  8. Beautiful work!

And of course you need to add an artillery piece or two. The Russians love their artillery!
