Mohegan Native American Unit for the French and Indian War

The Mohegan are a Native American tribe historically based in present-day Connecticut; the majority are associated with the Mohegan Indian Tribe, a federally recognized tribe living on a reservation in the eastern upper Thames River valley of south-central Connecticut.

Figures from NorthStar Miniatures.

The Mohegans were allies of the British Colonists and supported the British war effort during the French and Indian War as scouts and skirmishers. Eventually an entire company of Mohegans was organized and became part of Roger's Rangers (Rogers hired men solely on merit and shocked regular commanders with his use of Indians and freed slaves).

I'm planing on using this unit in Rebels and Patriots (Paid Link) as skirmishers and depending on the force composition and scenario they will also either be Veterans or Aggressive.

  1. Your warband shows off splendid paint jobs. Nice! I had my first game of R&P on Sunday. It was a fun, little action!

    1. Thanks Jonathan. I have finished our initial British Force and I have now started the French. We are looking forward to our first game once the French are complete.

  2. Fantastic brushwork on all of these figures, Neil. I've shied away from Native Americans due to their unconventional attire and skin tone - particularly with warpaint. All of which you've captured on these wonderfully.

    1. Thanks Dean. I used Vallejo Dark Flesh with a heavy wash of GW Flesh Wash (or whatever it is called now). I then highlighted with GW Dwarf Flesh (or whatever the current name) for the skin color and then painted the warpaint.

    1. Thank you. They were a challenge (no assembly line procedure) but well worth the effort. Thanks again.
